Federer Came Back To Reach Milestone At French Open 2013

The 17 times grand slam champion, and former champion at French Roger Federer had to face a fierce test against home favourite Gilles Simon.  He beat Simon when he was 2 sets to 1 down by 6-1 4-6 2-6 6-2 6-3.  With this victory Federer recorded 900th victory.  Federer had to use all his abilities to get rid of Simon.  In the start Federer dominated the field and won first set with three breaks of serve by 6-1.  In the second set Federer lost concentration and Simon made full use of only break point that Federer faced and won the set by 6-4.


In the third set, the momentum was in favour of the French man.  He took the advantage of home crowd and that momentum to win third set by double break of serve by 6-2.  At that time it was looking sure that Federer's 35 consecutive quarterfinals at grand slams streak will come to end.  But Federer again showed his internal champion and improved his footwork.  He made Simon move all over the court, drew important errors from Simon racket and hit winners and winners from both the wings.  He broke Simon at 2-2 in the fourth and consolidated it at 5-3.  That was real hope for Federer fans.  Federer again broke Simon to get an advantage of serving ahead in the decider.  He took this set by 6-2.


In the deciding set Federer quickly hold his serve and immediatetly drew tha last blood, and broke Simon serve to get 2-0 and then 3-0 lead.  Simon continued to hold serve till 5-3.  Now Federer had to serve for place in 36th consecutive grand slam quarterfinal.  He faced difficulty because he had to face two break points in this game but he the backhand error made by Simon was the last point of the match.
