Federer Eases Past Stebe To Join Last Eight At Gerry Weber Open

Roger Federer of Switzerland, the top seed at Gerry Weber Open 2013 made short work of his second round opponent and beat him by 6-3 6-3 in 68 minutes.  This is Federer’s 40^th win at Halle.  In the whole match Federer was broken only once and he broke Stebe four times.  The key thing for Federer’s victory was the important points of the match which Federer won when it mattered.

Five times champion at Halle fired 3 aces and made only 58% of his first serves in but he managed to hold his serve again and again.  He won 73% of the points on his first serve.  But he fulfill this deficiency by accurate second serve.  The 2012 runner will next face Jerzy Janowicz of Poland in the quarterfinals. 

In the other matches Monfils beat favourite Raonic in straight sets and Richard Gasquet as well as 2011 champion won their matches.  Federer may have to face defending champion Tommy Haas in the semi finals.
